Brisbane Airport is operated and developed by Brisbane Airport Corporation Pty Ltd (BAC) under a long term lease from the Commonwealth of Australia. BAC is part of a holding company group corporate structure, the ultimate shareholders of which are major Australian and international organisations (including Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and the Port of Brisbane Corporation), Brisbane City, and significant institutional investors.
As part of a BAC-QUT partnership, I was contracted to oversee and conduct a knowledge systems inventory and develop a knowledge management strategy. The objective of the BAC Knowledge Management Project is to develop and implement a framework of policies and procedures that is supported by all staff members, that is imbedded into the corporate culture and which supports processes already integrated into BAC workflows, as well as, develop new streamlined processes, which help to align BAC’s corporate knowledge with its core business areas, thus giving true value to BAC’s knowledge; change cultural aspects of how staff recognise, store, disseminate and retrieve corporate knowledge; and proactively assists in the daily running of the company saving time and resources.
