In the funding round 2003, Apple Computer Australia and the Apple University Consortium (AUC) approved my application "SmartCentral" under the Apple University Development Fund (AUDF) scheme to develop an innovative web application hosted by Mac OS X Server in combination with WebObjects.

SmartCentral supports the communication needs of research teams in tertiary and R&D institutions. It provides a set of sophisticated services to establish and run online communities specifically for researchers to collaborate with each other beyond the boundaries of schools, departments, faculties and institutions. SmartCentral offers professional communication and collaboration tools such as discussion forums, announcements, diaries, member profiles, file storage and sharing, etc. in one seamless environment accessible through an intuitive web interface. The target audience of SmartCentral are researchers and academics especially from non-IT backgrounds who will appreciate the system for its ease of use and flexibility.
