Matthias is a research intern with the Urban Informatics Research Lab and CARRS-Q, working on his master thesis as part of the project Risky Gadgets to the Rescue: Designing Personal Ubicomp Devices to Foster Safer Driving Behaviours in Young Males. His work involves creating a car sensor interface based on affordable hardware such as smartphones and OBD2 adapters. The project’s goal is to develop a well designed library that can be used by other developers and researchers as a basis for their applications and user studies.
Before joining the Urban Informatics Lab, Matthias was working at BMW, Experteer, metaio and Allianz on projects in the domains of automotive user interfaces, web development and augmented reality.
For his bachelor thesis at BMW, he created the “3D-HUD Designer”, a prototyping tool for stereoscopic head-up displays, which was presented at INTERACT 15.
