Irina Anastasiu

Irina Anastasiu has pursued undergraduate and graduate studies in Media Informatics at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, Germany and is currently writing her final thesis at the QUT with the Urban Informatics Lab.
She has received an Honors Degree in Technology Management from the Center for Digital Technology and Management, a joint venture of the Technical University Munich and the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich. Furthermore, she did a semester abroad with ERASMUS at the Universita di Roma Tor Vergata in Rome, Italy in 2009, working on her project/bachelor thesis.

She has accumulated work experience especially in the field of mobile development with iOS and Android, working for online fashion start-up Stylight GmbH, but also for mobile service provider Aloqa GmbH. Furthermore, she was a senior app developer at the app agency NEXT Munich GmbH, working on projects for a variety of customers from industry.

Irina’s fields of interest are Mobile Development, UI Design, Information Visualization and Human-Computer-Interaction. Her current research is focused on exploring how mobile applications can be used to effectively display information, but also to collect information from citizens to support urban planning and development.

In her free time Irina enjoys photography and cooking, but also all kinds of outdoor activities, like bike tours or hiking. Recently she has become very fond of water sports, like kayaking or kite surfing. And Australia’s east coast seems to be just the right spot for that!
